Briscoes Retail Store Te Rapa

The Briscoes Group engages Aotea to undertake the maintenance into their 85 sites nationally so Aotea has worked closely for the past 4 years with the Briscoes property team to assist in reducing their power consumption and more importantly reduce the annual spend on the cost of maintaining aging lighting through their stores.

Aotea and their sustainability partner Nu Green Solutions NZ looked at what was going to be achievable and acceptable in lighting performance with the changing dynamics in retail lighting, lowering the overall power consumption of the store, sourcing a fitting that offered the best value for money along with an extended warranty plus undertaking the works in a way which has minimal disruption to the store ensuring the ability to continue trading while the work was being undertaken.

Through the experience gained in undertaking the retrofit works on previous Briscoes and Rebel Sport sites nationally with the removal of the exiting lighting and associated suspended ceiling, Aotea have meet the program that was committed too at the beginning of the project with all stakeholders including re-directing existing services such as security and data cabling, re designing, installing and certifying the new emergency lighting systems.

The results across both stores being that the overall lighting levels have improved by 33% whilst saving approximately $50K per year in direct power saving and reduced annual maintenance cost with the 5 year parts and labour warranty on the product.
